YOUTH
Bright Side
Bright Side is a youth series that was created by and for the young
people of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Seven episodes were made which
were later on broadcast on OBN during 2004.
The series was drawn up as a project to empower young people from
all over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over fifty youngsters from Tuzla,
but also from other parts of the country, had participated in the
creation of this show. The topics that were dealt with were
directly linked to the problems young people are faced with in
their everyday lives.
In creating this project, we cooperated with OKC Abrašević, Mostar
and OKC Banja Luka.
Information about current events concerning this project can be
found under News.
The Way Out
This 3-minute-long video has won first prize at the Norwegian
‘’Cube of Ibsen’’ International festival in September 2006. The
story of the video is based on Ibsen’s quote ‘’you may think about
it, want it, desperately want it, but for you to do it, that I
cannot comprehend’’. The video was made by a group of creative
young people and with our association’s collaborating with the
Foundation of Tuzla citizens.
Đelem
Đelem
This is a short documentary that was realized by our cooperating
with the Foundation of Tuzla citizens. The story is about the
conditions of life of the young Roma girl Sandra Biberović, a girl
who, in the 21st century, has to study by the light of a candle and
still manages to get excellent results at school, is the president
of her class, writes poetry and practices dance.
The documentary won second prize at a festival in Strasbourg called
‘’DOSTA’’.
Dance workshops
During the previous years, we have been happy to host volunteers
from Holland who have held dance workshops. These activities were
held at the Peace Flame House and the children’s school (Center for
the education of hearing and sight, Tuzla).
These workshops have had a large number of attendants, who enjoyed
the freedom of movement. A unique accomplishment was realized on
two occasions, namely when these workshops were held by young
people, volunteers from Holland, who are also
hearing-impaired.
A blacksmith and dance workshop – the making of the peace
lamp
At the end of the summer of 2005, we had the pleasure of working
with volunteers from Holland, Carry, Ton and their children, who
created the peace lamp, during a one-week blacksmith workshop,
together with youngsters from Tuzla. The Lamp is positioned in
front of the House; the gong that was also made can be found at the
entrance to the House.
While making lamp, some of the youth learned dancing in out
theatre.
Audio-video editing workshop
Around 30 high-scholars were during the summer of 2005 educated in
creating audio-video material of their own authorship. Volunteers
from Holland did the teaching and several materials were produced
during that time.
Special Olympics, Sarajevo 2004
In partnership with the Center for the education of hearing and
speech, Tuzla, our association made an appearance on that year’s
international event by doing a quick dance performance in which
children who were speech and hearing-impaired and those who were
not participated. The performance was developed by the contestants
themselves, with the goal to spread the message that it is possible
and necessary for us to live together, regardless to our
differences, and that this is the right and only way to go.
